Magdalena Cięciwa is the only active representative of the tradition of the Zakopane bobbin lace school. She also created her own style by preparing students to continue their work and reconstruct forgotten Zakopane patterns. Born and raised in a family with a long tradition of craftsmanship and preserving and cultivating the broadly understood folk culture, local patriotism, passing the cultural heritage of the region of the Lachy Sądeckie people on to the younger generation. From an early age, she took part in many exhibitions and handicraft competitions, winning main prizes. Her first and, one can say, most important student was her daughter Kinga, who at the age of ten, together with her mother, presented lace at various events, won her first serious award and delighted and amazed people with her skills.

We invite you to a meeting with the artists, beautiful lace art and local culture.
We meet in an atmospheric wooden house – a workshop, situated picturesquely on the Przełęcz Przysłop Pass in Obidza, at the crossroads of tourist trails, between Przehyba and Dzwonkówka.

During the Open Workshop, there will be craftsmanship workshops accompanying the main event, children will take part in art workshops inspired by lace, we will spend a nice and creative day together in beautiful natural surroundings.

OPEN WORKSHOPS is a series of meetings in craft workshops in the Małopolska region. This is a great opportunity to see craftsmen at work and try your hand at their craft. On August and September weekends, artists from the Małopolska Craft Trail will open their studios and galleries. You will be able to take part in free workshops, try local delicacies and buy beautiful hand-made items. During the OPEN WORKSHOPS, you will be able to learn the secrets of pottery, bobbin lace, spoon-making, tissue paper art, weaving, folk sculpture and other traditional handicraft techniques and materials.  We have ahead of us two months of meetings with extraordinary people in their workshops, in places where they live and work every day – see you at the OPEN WORKSHOPS on the Craft Trail!

Details and full schedule on the Craft Trail website.

The project is carried out with the support of the Małopolskie Voivodeship within the framework of the Hospitable Małopolska open competition for best tourism and financed by the National Centre for Culture as part of the EtnoPolska 2019 Programme.
