Sculptures by Professor Czesław Dźwigaj

Trzy rzeźby św. Jana Pawła II.

‘Kmitówka’ is one of the oldest parts of the castle where sculptures by Professor Czesław Dźwigaj are on display. This versatile artist from Wiśnicz creates sculptures, bas-reliefs and paintings, usually on religious themes. Spacious interiors make it possible to display monumental sculptures such as gypsum models of monuments to John Paul II or church doors. In the first room, photographs from the professor’s workshop show the process of creating a sculpture: a drawing, clay model, plaster mould and the bronze casting as the final element. The other two rooms display gypsum models of church doors and monuments to the Holy Father from Poland and other parts of the world. They include monuments from the Marian shrines at Lourdes and Fatima, a monument from Canada and one from the United States.
