House with a Tower, Biecz

Fragment ekspozycji. Z przeszłości muzycznej Biecza

The exhibition consists of musical instruments, mainly those made by amateur folk artists and used during celebrations (ceremonial masses, weddings, harvest festivals), but there are some elements characterised by high quality and precision. Particularly valuable is the instrument made by Antoni Hybel, a sculptor and Polish luthier– a craftsman of fine stringed instruments – from Przyszowa, a violin characterised by the slender line of the sound box, perfect C-bouts, and an inverted scroll.

The harpsichord, dulcimer, bagpipes, and wheel fiddle are also beautiful, as are the whistles and pipes. There are also instruments manufactured on a larger scale, in factories: trumpets, flutes, and clarinets. The collection is complemented by paintings and cards with liturgical chants.
