Galeria Władysława Hasiora

Władysław Hasior’s works can be found in national museums in Kraków, Warsaw, Łódź, Poznań, Szczecin, Wrocław, Bydgoszcz, Lublin, Nowy Sącz, and Zakopane, as well as inmuseums in Helsinki, Paris, Stockholm, Oslo, Sao Paulo, Rome, Milan, Edinburgh, Bochum, Duisburg, Amsterdam, and in numerous private collections. In December 1984, his works were moved from his small studio to the gallery on Jagiellońska Street. The gallery was opened in the former lounging room of the Warszawianka Sanatorium, designed by Wacław Nowakowski and built in 1935. The wooden lounging room had two floors, with glass walls on the southern side. Adapting the space for a gallery resulted in multi-level interiors serving as exhibition rooms, a concert hall, and the artist’s apartment and studio. The galley opened in February 1985. In the Władysław Hasior Gallery, you can find famous banners, assemblages, and sculptures made from various materials – ordinary objects, often clutter, which take on new meanings in the artist’s hands. Their metaphorical, witty, irreverent titles make you think about art and the modern world.
