The Tarnów Ludwik Solski Theatre has an interesting and rich history dating back to the 18th century; it was initiated by a school theatre functioning in the years 1709-1720.
In subsequent years, the ideas of theatre were maintained by various kinds of societies and amateur theatres. In 1957, pursuant to a ministerial act, the theatre in Tarnów was nationalised and changed its name into the Ludwik Solski State Theatre of Kraków Land.
