Lookout Tower in Jaworz (Kretówka)
Limanowa
Tourist region: Pogórza
The so-called Łososński range rises in the eastern part of the Island Beskids, bordering the Dunajec River valley and the Rożnowski and Czchowski dam reservoirs. From the north, it touches the smaller Łopusz and Kobyła ranges. From the south, national road No. 28 from Nowy Sącz to Limanowa greets the south-western slopes of Miejska Mountain.
There are arable fields almost to the very top of Jaworz Mountain, which means that only the uppermost part of Jaworz Mountain is forested. A 20-metre-high observation tower, Jaworz (Kretówka), has been erected here, offering a beautiful view of the Rożnowski Reservoir, Nowy Sącz, the Low Beskids, Beskid Sądecki, and in good weather even of the Pieniny and Tatra Mountains.
There is a campsite by the tower, a covered barbecue and a shelter, making it a good place for a family camping trip in a beautiful, picturesque setting.
The most popular route to the Jaworz's (Kretówka) lookout tower is the blue trail from Limanowa, which takes about 3 hours.
There is also a much shorter option which involves driving to the end of the paved road, parking the car there and walking for 20 minutes.
