Gaj Vineyard

Latochówki 5, 32-031 Mogilany
A “champagne” made in the vicinity of Krakow, according to a 300-year-old recipe.
The town of Gaj near Mogilany, in the general area of Krakow, features a family vineyard run by a father and his daughter. Andrzej Barański bought the land together with an old, wooden house, where he decided to plant vines and start wine production. The varieties cultivated at the vineyard – kay gray, bianca, rondo, regent, pinot noir, jutrzenka, praire star, swenson and arkadia – are grown organically, without artificial fertilisers and spraying. After several years, the owner decided to focus on making sparkling wine, according to a recipe known for more than 300 years, similar to making champagne. During the Polish Winemakers’ Convention, the Gajus 2013 sparkling wine gained recognition, approval and fame among the industry representatives. The vineyard is a non-commercial undertaking; however, the owners welcome visitors for tastings.
