View from the Town Hall Tower, Biecz

The tower is 58 m tall; from its observation deck, one can see a beautiful panorama of the city and surrounding towns, the Ropa Valley, the Low Beskids, and the adjoining Carpathian Piedmont. In the north-east, one can see Liwocz  sitting at 562 m above sea level, the highest elevation in the Ciężkowice Piedmont. It is said that a city older than Biecz was once located there and, according to the legend, the two cities where joined by a tunnel used by Queen Jadwiga to escape the Tatars.
