Irena and Mieczysław Mazaraki Museum

The Irena and Mieczysław Mazaraki Museum in Chrzanów, established on July 22, 1960, is a regional science and research facillity; its area of study is the upper Vistula region from Kraków to Przemsza, and especially the area of the Chrzanów county. Since its inception, the Museum has been gathering, storing, preserving, and exhibiting historical, cultural, and natural collections. It also conducts research into the lives of the historical local communities and the natural environment of the region. The Museum's building dates back to the 16th century. It served as a manor storehouse. It is partially built from local stone. It has retained some Renaissance features, such as the ceiling arch on the ground floor or the shape of the body of the building, now significantly distorted. The two-storey, partially cellared building was overhauled by the last owners, the Loewenfelds, in the late 19th century. In the 1960s, it was adapted for museum purposes. It is located on the edge of a city park, the former manor grounds. In 1969, the Museum's building was added to the Register of Monuments.
