The silver sugar bowl, gilded on the inside, is shaped like a rectangular chest with strongly concave sides and cut corners. The four legs are shaped like stylised leaves and on the lid is a handle in the shape of a lying dog. On the edge is an ornament composed of stylised leaves. The sugar bowl has a lock with a decorative sign and a silver key –sugar was once very expensive, it was considered harmful in excess amounts, and it was locked away from children and ... servants. It was made around 1830 in the workshop of the excellent Russian goldsmith working in St. Petersburg, Karol Bojanowski. On the bottom of the bowl, outside and inside is a the creator's silver hallmark and his  name, K. Boianowski.
