The living areas of the croft (entrance hall, kitchen, ‘grand room’, and ‘summer room’) are positioned one after the other. In the entrance hall, which was mostly used to store items needed in the household, there was also a carpentry workbench. Its owner made all the needed household items, ranging from furniture to dishes. Other objects, such as wooden milk pails and a hand-mill, can also be found here. From the entry hall, one can access the attic, where grain was stored in mows (‘sąsieki’), and foodstuffs were kept in chests and troughs. Before other rooms were added, the kitchen was the centre of family life. One slept, ate, cooked, baked bread, and spun flax and wool in the kitchen. The Korkosz family used the ‘grand room’ a bedroom after it was added to the house. It was also where one’s best clothes would be kept, where guests were received, and where one would celebrate special family and annual occasions.
