Metallurgy Room, Dobczyce Castle

In the centre of the exhibition is a hypocaust-type furnace, which serves as the central heating system. Furthermore, archaeological finds from the area have confirmed the existence of field metallurgical furnaces, as well as pottery kilns for firing ceramics. Armourers’ products were discovered during the archaeological work: battle-axes, javelins, spears, etc. A beautiful 8-sided green neo-Baroque oven with a dome was placed between the windows. It has richly decorated tiles, an upper cornice with lace ornamentation and angel heads. Fragments of a Gothic door were affixed to the west wall. In the display case in the right-hand corner of the room are the following items: old weapons excavated during archaeological work, metal vessels, castle candle holders, a decorative tray for glasses, a likeness of a dragon’s head, liturgical vessels from the castle chapel,  others.
