Paintings by Moniuszko Dołęga Manor House

Two oil paintings by Jan Moniuszko are displayed in the living room of the Dołęga Manor: ‘Jan III Sobieski’ (Sobieski at Vienna) and ‘Ksiądz Kordecki’, depicting Priest August Kordecki, the commander of the defence of the besieged Jasna Góra monastery during the Deluge. Jan Moniuszko, who worked between 1879 and 1905, painted genre, historical, and religious scenes. He was the son of Stanisław Moniuszko, a well-known Polish composer, author of the operas ‘Straszny dwór’ (‘Haunted Manor’) and ‘Halka’.
