History of Music Education, Lusławice

Sala kameralna

The history of music education in this place dates back to the turn of the 17th century. A renowned painter, Jacek Malczewski, lived and worked in the local manor in 1923-26 and also established a painting school for talented children there. Krzysztof Penderecki restored the manor, which was falling into disrepair after the World War II. That renowned artist became the initiator of the European Music Centre that, by making artistic encounters and work in the form master-student relationship possible, strives to educate and develop young musical talents in Poland and Europe. The activity of the European Krzysztof Penderecki Music Centre covers comprehensive education at all stages of artistic development. The Centre organises or co-organises numerous concerts, exhibitions, meetings, lectures, workshops and master courses for soloists, chamber ensembles and orchestras, consistently consolidating its position among the national institutions of culture focused on the development and promotion of Polish arts.
