Dwór Karwacjanów i Gładyszów’ Art Gallery

Dwór Karwacjanów (The Karwacjanów Manor) was built in the 15th century as a combined defensive structure and residence. Its military nature was evident from its location on an embankment and elements of development such as a stone tower with a moat and wooden fortifications. In the 16th century, the old manor was transformed into a Calvinist congregation and at the same time rebuilt in the Renaissance style. Since mid-19th century, it was used for the storage of unused furniture, coaches and other equipment. For some time it had also been used as a granary. When the entire town suffered from a great fire in 1874, the manor probably served as a chapel before the church was rebuilt. It lost its roof when it was hit by an aerial bomb in 1915, during the war, and the fire consumed the interior of the building. After the front line moved, the burned walls were taken down, and until 1928 the ruin was treated as a source of stone for the reconstruction of surrounding houses. The manor was only rebuilt in 1992.
