The first part of the permanent exhibition of the Kęty museum is the historical exhibition. Here you will find items depicting the history of Kęty. The city can boast a rich history. Kęty was granted town privileges before 1277. The oldest Kęty artefacts come from archaeological excavations, from the Hallstatt period (8th – 5th century B.C.). Kęty was a thriving centre of craftsmanship. The exhibition showcases guild chests that held the books, seals, and other valuable items belonging to the local craft guilds. Part of the room is dedicated to sacral art and the furnishings of the churches in Kęty over the centuries. After 1772, Kęty was incorporated into the Habsburg Monarchy. A document issued by the chancellery of Emperor Francis II in 1793, which confirmed the previous privileges, has been preserved from the partition period. An important part of the permanent exhibition are the memorabilia related to the stay of the 1st Brigade of the Polish Legions in Kęty in the winter of 1915. The museum also presents documents and photographs from the period of both World Wars. The collection is complemented by the 18th-century city cannons, the so-called ‘wiwatówki’.
