Kuchnia Salt Mine, Bochnia

The Ważyn chamber was created in several stages. It was joined to a number of old 17th- and 18th-century excavation sites.

Its present appearance is the result of the re-exploitation in the 1960s. The Ważyn chamber is connected to the 'August' level by a 140 m slope and the Ważyński shaft. From the Ważyn chamber, we can embark on an underground boat trip. From here we can also reach the underside of the Sutoris shaft. The Manna crosspiece is accessible from this chamber and leads to a beautiful chamber by the same name. The chamber was already being mined in 1723. Its name was probably inspired by the perfectly white salt that was mined here that reminded the miners of biblical manna.
