Podhale Room, Ethnographic Museum, Kraków

Drewniana ława, na niej gliniana brązowa misa z drewnianą łyżką. Koło ławy stoją cztery drewniane stołki.

The ethnographers who moved the Ethnographic Museum to the building of the former Kazimierz city hall dreamt about recreating the atmosphere of rural homes and workshops inside, to reconstruct living conditions from the turn of the 20th century. It was supposed to look authentic, which is why the arrangement of the space was entrusted to artisans invited to the city. The interior of a mountaineer’s hut was arranged in the Museum by Andrzej Plewa and Stanisław Giblak from Ochotnica Dolna. It was Stanisław Stefaniak who demanded that the stove be built with stones from the Raba River in the belief that brick would make the stove too stiff and angular.
