Hunting, Ethnographic Museum, Krakow

Drewniana pułapka na zwierzęta z trzema otworami.

Wild animals were considered the property of whoever owned the forests. Hunting was the privilege of the king, the royal court and landowners. Peasants were poachers: they hunted illegally, most often taking roe deer, foxes, hares and birds. They were also killing wolves, bears and wild boar if they endangered livestock or crops. They used simple tools for that purpose, mostly traps that would snap shut when the prey fell into them.
