Kilka drewnianych zdobionych siekierek

The world emanates childlike energy in the spring. It is the time for indulgences near Krakow. Emaus takes place on Easter Monday. Sweets, wooden figurines, small axes, miniature wheelbarrows, carriages, cradles, clay whistles and bells are sold from the stalls. Rękawka follows on the next day. Carousels whirl, young people try their hand at pole climbing, wrestling, stilt and sack races, high jumping and long jumping. The lack of seriousness does not entail the lack of importance. In the cheerful confusion, spontaneous joy, pleasant bewilderment of swaying and spinning, in the gambling and the no longer legible symbols placed on the simplest toys, one can see traces of Slavic rituals that were once practised to help the world in its spring renewal. Trees of life were among the most popular indulgence toys. One of them can be seen at the exhibition. It became an inspiration for the tree in the centre of the room. You can watch its story in the corridor near the entrance.
