Good day! As you stand here, know that the Museum was established in 1911, after years of efforts made by Seweryn Udziela, an activist, collector and an amateur ethnographer. After a few moves from temporary locations (from private flats to the Wawel castle), the museum ended up in the former city hall in the Kazimierz district. The great refurbishment of the new home began in 1948. The first exhibition opened in 1951. A few areas arranged at that time have hardly changed. Because of this, we can follow in the footsteps of ethnographers from the mid-20th century. The interiors that you will see on the ground floor could be called a museum within the museum. Have a look inside.
