The Cultural Centre in Krynica-Zdrój is a local cultural institution that strives to create conditions for active participation in culture in its broadest sense and to inspire artistic, social, and personal development. It conducts its activities in two locations, at 19 Piłsudskiego Street, its headquarters, and in the Village Cultural Centre in Tylicz. The institution organises a range of cultural events: concerts and music festivals, film screenings, exhibitions, meetings with artists. It cooperates with qualified instructors who run workshops for children, young people, and adults throughout the year.
Within the Cultural Centre there are:
3D digital cinema ‘Jaworzyna II’ offering excellent picture and sound quality, and allowing the presentation of materials from other sources, including from a computer and DVD. The cinema auditorium is accessible to the disabled and to children.
‘Siedlisko’ Art Gallery organises around 20 exhibitions each year.
The Adam Wroński Zdrojowa Orchestra of Krynica, which gives about five concerts a week throughout the year, with a break during the Jan Kiepura Festival, the Economic Forum, and the Running Festival. In the summer, weather permitting, concerts are held in the Muszla Koncertowa on the Deptak, and in the winter, in the Pijalnia Concert Hall and the Ballroom of the Stary Zdrojowy House. Annually, the Zdrojowa Orchestra plays an average of 220 concerts. It also performs during cultural events organised by the Cultural Centre, as well as those organised by other units in the gmina (municipality).
Krynica Open University – University of the Third Age, which supports activities for seniors in a systematic and organised manner. The University’s offer is used by people who wish to remain active in various areas of life after their professional activity has ended. The University provides them with the opportunity to expand their knowledge, meet new people, exchange views and experiences, and stay fit. Since its inception, the University has established numerous contacts, which provides ample opportunity for the organisation of various lectures, seminars and workshops. The number of ‘50 plus’ students averages around 100 per year.
Continuous artistic and educational activities for children, young people, and seniors from the Krynica-Zdrój Gmina include ballet, dance, folk dance and singing, arts and crafts, music, theatre, and vocal activities for seniors.
The Cultural Centre in Krynica-Zdrój is a partner of the National Centre for Culture as part of the CULTURE – INTERVENTIONS program. The aim of the project is to strengthen participation in culture at the regional, local, and national level through the realisation and broadcasting of concerts disseminating the achievements of culture and increasing the presence of high culture in social life, as well as enabling people from areas where there are no continuous activities of this kind to access the cultural offer. In addition, the Cultural Centre in Krynica-Zdrój is a co-organiser of the Jan Kiepura Festival, which is attended by an average of around 40,000 spectators. The event lasts 9 days, during which around 38 events are held, including 21 evening and afternoon concerts, with 4 performances, 8 Krynica Meetings with the Artist and 9 outdoor music shows.
