1970s, Małopolskie Centre for the Sound and the Word

Transistor receivers were a new type of radios that became popular in the 1970s. The first such radio was produced in America (Texas Instruments) in 1954. There is a large collection of transistor radio sets displayed in this room. ZODIAK was an interesting radio (we can see it on a shelf of the wall unit), the first product of the Research and Development Centre established at ZR Diora. A completely new design with modern subassemblies and good technical and performance characteristics. The ELIZABETH stereophonic receiver used many technical innovations such as integrated circuits, thick-film circuits (STK-015 amplifiers), ceramic filters and LEDs. Its striking matt aluminium faceplate and a nicely illuminated scale were characteristic features of the design.
