The Miraculous Statue of Our Lady of Sorrows was brought to the village of Mordarka (currently Limanowa) in the 16th century and placed on a linden tree, which still grows today. Later, a wooden shrine was built to which the Statue was transferred, and the shrine was consecrated on 18 August 1668. Numerous pilgrims visiting the place have experienced many graces and the miraculous spring that has gushed out next to the chapel and whose water has the healing power, especially in eye diseases, is a sign of a place of grace. In the 18th century, a dispute between the parish and the landlord of the local manor who owned the shrine ended with the ceremonial relocation of the Statue of the Mother of God to the Limanowa church in 1752. The current stone chapel was built at the turn of the 19th century. A baroque copy of the Pieta from Limanowa can be seen inside. The walls present painted scenes commemorating the flood during which the coffin with the corpse of the heiress, who was a heretic and neglected the chapel, flew out of the cemetery as witnessed by a servant from the manor who was so frightened that she dropped and broke a jug. Worshippers of the Mother of God come to the Chapel of Grace to draw water from the miraculous spring, and a ceremonial procession proceeds there from the Basilica on the first Sunday after 22 September.
