Mikołaj’s Cabin was built in 1934 by Stefan Lgocki, a co-owner of the estate in Łopuszna. The first forester was Mikołaj Kostkin, a soldier in the Russian army who came to Łopuszna as a prisoner during the World War I. After World War II, Lgocki’s settlement and his forests in the Łopuszna valley were nationalised. Mikołaj’s Forester’s Hut has belonged to the Gorce National Park since 1988. It houses a small naturalistic and historical exhibition presenting the Carpathian forest, the settlement’s history and the history of environmental protection in Gorce. The Park organises public open-air events in the Forester’s Hut a few times a year.
