The folk attire considered one of the most beautiful outfits in rural Poland was one of the richest and most interesting elements of the traditional folk culture of the Sącz Lachs. Its decorativeness is characteristic: embroideries with multicoloured threads, stones and sequins and applications. The outfit was an identifier for the ethnographic group, it defined the social and material status of its owner. In Lach villages, traditional outfits were commonly worn till the outbreak of the First World War. The attire presented at the exhibition is a holiday and official outfit worn only for important religious ceremonies, weddings, fairs, or when entertaining guests. Women’s outfits were supplemented with true or artificial coral beads depending on the wealth of the owner, worn as one or a few strings. For men, the accessories included a black felt hat and high leather boots.
