Black Room, Chochołów Uprising Museum

The design of the cottage’s interior was intended to combine the history of the uprising and an ethnographic exhibition showing how a Goral (Polish Highlander) family lived in the mid-19th century. The ‘black’ room, where the daily life of the family took place, houses equipment needed for farm work. The ‘white’ room, known as the ‘festive’ room, is of a different character. It was used on festive occasions. It is bright, decorated with ornate furnishings, glass paintings, and ceramics – in a word, items that display the owners’ wealth.
