The Museum of Wiśnicz Land is located in the building that used to house the Facility for the Poor established by Stanisław Lubomirski. The hospital had been a shelter for the poor for 360 years. A wooden cross reminding everyone of the founder’s idea has been hanging on the front wall of the building since its establishment. After its major refurbishment in 2002, the Museum of Wiśnicz Land that collects and documents the regional memorabilia was opened in the building. Among other things, the interiors contain an original 17th-century cannon that used to be a part of the defensive equipment at the Wiśnicz castle, elements of stonework from the former Convent of the Barefoot Carmelites, paintings by Stanisław Klimowski and Jan Stasiniewicz and sculptures by the contemporary artist from Wiśnicz, Professor Czesław Dźwigaj. By the western wall of the building there is a bronze statue of Juliusz Kossak by Professor Dźwigaj. The sculpture commemorates the artist’s connections to Wiśnicz as he was born here on 5 December 1824. It is the first-ever monument to this renowned artist in Poland.
