Access to the castle is through a Baroque gateway built in the perimeter of the bastion fortifications. Its triumphal arch – a concept borrowed from ancient Roman architecture – glorified the founder, the victor of the battle of Khotyn. The inscription on the foundation plaque is also a sign of the power and dignity of Stanisław Lubomirski. The central passage of the gate was used by carriages and horsemen while the two side passages were for pedestrians. Initially a drawbridge led to the gate but it was replaced with a stone bridge in 1795.
