It is a typical example of a 19th-century dryer with a thatched roof, equipped with a vaulted hearth and special openings in the ceiling that made it possible to adjust the quantity of smoke reaching the drying fruit. The drying of plums, apples or pears was the only method available in the past to enable the storage of fruit for even a few years. Dried fruit was a great addition to the daily diet.
