The heritage railway platform is a place of departure for passenger trains. The train shed is constructed in the original way used by Polish State Railways: cast-iron support posts, wooden roof plating covered with bitumen. The support posts are an interesting feature of the platform in the Chabówka Museum. They come from the 1847 train shed of the main railway station in Kraków (‘Kraków Główny’). During the 1990s’ renovation of the railway station in Kraków, its supports were replaced. By instruction of the Voivodeship Monument Conservator in Kraków (‘Wojewódzki Konserwator Zabytków w Krakowie’), the original supports were secured and given to the Museum in Chabówka. After they arrived, it was decided that they would be used for the construction of the platform and train shed. Currently, the platform is part of the exhibition but serves practical purposes as well. Original benches from the time of the Polish People’s Republic are collected and exhibited on the platform. In addition to their function as part of the exhibition, they serve as a place to rest while visiting the Museum.
