The Professor Roman Reinfuss Open-air Museum of Rural Pogórze in Szymbark was established in the 1980s. The 2-hectare space houses 16 objects of rural architecture typical for the Gorlice Foothills. Professor Roman Reinfuss, who advised on substantive issues relating to the exhibition, selected objects to be displayed in the museum in the course of his field research. In the year 2010 that marked the Professor’s 100th birthday, his achievements regarding the protection of the local heritage were commemorated with a monument and naming the museum after him. The open-air museum presents the folk culture of the inhabitants of the Foothills.
