Church of St. Joachim, Skawinki

The wooden Church of St. Joachim in Skawinki is located on the Wooden Architecture Trail and is the most beautiful historical monument in Skawinki. It was built in 1733 in nearby Przytkowice and belonged to that parish until 1956. It was moved to Skawinki in the 1960s. It is a Baroque church covered with a multi-pitched shingle roof; the large turret on the roof has Baroque features. The church’s floor plan has the shape of a Greek cross, which is quite rare in Małopolska. At the intersection of the cross’s arms is a Baroque, many-sided house mark. Until 1982, the church in Skawinki was a branch of the parish church in Lanckorona. At that point, it was made into a separate parish.
