The IB PAS eco-toxicological laboratory is equipped with high-quality measuring devices (the most important of which are the spectrophotometers and chromatographs), which makes it capable of carrying out specialised analyses of plants, soil, and water in the field of eco-toxicology. It has specialised rooms such as chromatography laboratories, a spectrophotometry laboratory, sulphur and coal analysis laboratory, and a nitrogen analysis laboratory. All research projects of the staff of this station are carried out on the basis of chemical analyses performed here as part of statutory activities and projects funded by other entities. The laboratory of the Department of Ecology cooperates with the Institute of Dendrology of the Polish Academy of the Sciences in Kórnik, the Institute of Botany of Jagiellonian University, the Polish Botany Foundation in Kraków, the University of Silesia in Katowice, periodically with other national units that are interested in performing chemical analyses as well as the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology, the Natural Environmental Research Council, Bangor, United Kingdom, the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics, and the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna, in the Russian Federation.
