Council Chamber, Regional Museum, Tarnów

The exhibits in this room date from the 16th to the 19th century and represent the leading manufacturing centres of Western Europe and Poland. In addition to faience from Delft and stoneware from the J. Wedgwood factory, the exhibition comprises mainly collections from the oldest European porcelain factory, the factory in Meissen, distinguished by their high artistic quality. Also on display are numerous products of factories in Berlin, Vienna, and Wołyń. A collection of table glassware dating from the 17th to the 19th century completes the exhibition. The exhibition mainly presents Baroque goblets and glasses from glassworks active in the 18th century in the eastern areas of the past Polish Republic, as well as glassware from Saxony and the Karkonosze Mountains. Because of the shapes of the items and the abundance of original ornamental motifs, the exhibited selection of glass is one of the most interesting and largest collections in Poland. Glassware from as-yet unidentified 18th-century Polish glassworks has been placed together in a separate group, providing a modest overview of various types of glass tableware. Wall mirrors with brass candle holders, dating from the 17th century, complete the cafés decor.
