The Faron family’s farm sawmill comes from Zasadne, a small village west of Kamienica in Gorce. It was built in the late 19th or early 20th century. It cut boards and made shingles and was the family’s main source of income. The sawmill operated until 1963 and was moved to the museum in the 1980s. It is a two-floor building with a brick foundation, housing the mechanisms for driving the saw and other equipment. Above, there is a wooden shed with the gater (saw) for cutting boards, as well as a machine for making shingles, a circular saw, and a whetstone for sharpening various tools. All the equipment is powered by a single water wheel by a system of additional shafts and transmission belts. The waterwheel, part of the building’s structure and missing parts of partially preserved mechanisms required reconstruction. In addition to sawmilling equipment, the exhibition in the sawmill is complemented by items such as sawn timber and finished boards, as well as shelves, tool cabinets, and spare saws.
