Stables, Wincenty Witos Museum

‘The New Farmstead’, commonly referred to as ‘Witosówka’ by the residents of Wierzchosławice, is a complex of buildings comprising a residential house, two barns, a stable, and a cellar with a superstructure. The farm was built by Wincenty Witos between 1905 and 1913 on a plot of land brought as a dowry by his wife Katarzyna. The buildings are arranged in a square. They are all made of partially planked and shingled wooden logs. The farmstead has survived essentially unchanged since Witos built it, undergoing minor adjustments to suit museum purposes. The former stable building, which was completely dismantled and then adapted for exhibition purposes, now houses a permanent photographic exhibition showing the life and political activity of Wincenty Witos. The building also hosts lectures, school workshops, and meetings on special occasions.
