Chamber, Sabała’s Cottage, Zakopane

The main living chamber is surprisingly large and high. Windows are barred. The family life took place here as it was the only room heated by a stove with a place for the storage of warm food and a sleeping place behind the stove. The living chamber was an equivalent of the highlanders' black chamber. Three generations usually lived in the chamber. One bed was assigned to grandparents, other adults slept on benches next to the walls and younger children slept behind the stove. Exhibits on display include family photographs, memorabilia and old household appliances.
