Zygmunt Gnatowski’s room is furnished with three different furniture sets. The table and chairs in the centre belong to a larger set (which includes the sofa displayed in the living-room), made in Ludwik Szafrański’s carpentry workshop in Lviv. The bed, bedside table, vanity, and wardrobe (as well as the washstand and screen in the adjacent servant’s room) were purchased in 1904; their authorship has not been determined. The third set, authored by Brzega, consists of a desk (carpentry work by Jan Śliwka) with a chair (carpentry work by Józef Marduła) and a library cabinet. The clock next to the writing desk, designed by Stanisław Barabasz, is part of a larger dinner set, designed circa 1904 (additionally comprising a sideboard, large table with eight chairs, small table, and a three-legged stool with adjustable height). The simple bench by the door leading to the servant’s room was also designed by Barabasz. The oldest and most important Zakopane-style antique is the 1886 rug hanging over the bed, made of brown cloth and embroidered by Staszek Gładczan from Zakopane following Maria Dembowska’s design. The 1892 ‘Bajka o Śmierci’ (‘A Fable About Death’) and an ink drawing by Stanisław Witkiewicz are exhibited above the rug.
