For more than two decades, the Dębno Castle Branch of the Regional Museum in Tarnów, the Dębno Cultural Centre and the Dębno County Office (‘Urząd Gminy’) have been staging the International Knights’ Tournament for ‘Tarłówna’s Golden Braid’. It is the largest outdoor event in Dębno County. It is also one of the largest in Małopolska, often reaching an audience of more than twenty thousand people from all over Poland and abroad. The event has the character of a great historical spectacle. The main arena for the tournament is the castle moat, where, thanks to the excellent visibility and expansive terrain, various formations of the armed forces and cavalry can be presented. The Dębno tournament attracts knights from Poland and from abroad. All displays of battles, battle scenes, knightly and courtly customs, as well as dances and games complemented by music, lights, sound effects, and colourful expert commentary, allow the audience to feel the atmosphere of the past.
