The Divéky family settled in Podwilk in the 18th century. Farkas Fülöp Divéky (1769-1823) was the only representative of the family who conducted business on a large scale. He kept a cattle farm that was considered large at the time (about 30 cattle). With time, the Divéky family started to combine their farming activities with work in various offices and courts of the Orawa county. Adorián Divéky (1880-1965) who worked as a high school teacher in Spiš, Orawa, Liptów and in Budapest but later devoted himself to science was an exceptional member of that noble family. He worked at the Warsaw University where he defended a doctoral thesis, then obtained his postdoctoral degree in Budapest and was awarded the title of Professor in 1939. He also worked at a university in Debrecen and as the director of the Hungarian Institute in Warsaw. His area was the history of literature and the study of Hungarian-Polish historical relations.
