Wontorczyk Cottage

Drewniany dom i budynek gospodarczy otoczony drzewami.

This homestead was created after the relocation to the open-air museum of the 1858 Wontorczyk cottage from Lipnica Mała (the construction date visible in the hallway above the entrance door) and the Solawa utility building built in the 1940s from Zubrzyca Dolna. The black room of the cottage has a high ceiling with traces of the chimneyless smoke removal system. There is a stove in the corner by the wall adjacent to the white room – a ‘śparchet’ with a chimney slightly offset from the wall (it was adjacent to the wall originally but had to be moved due to fire safety requirements). Beams of the black room are painted white up to 2/3 of their height. This cottage houses an exhibition focused on tailoring, displaying typical examples of folk outfits from Orawa and samples of fabrics used to make them. The entire homestead is L-shaped, which is the shape of the original homestead consisting of the Wontorczyk cottage and its utility building that has not survived to the time when the cottage was acquired (1986).
