It is a shop where linseed oil was produced. People have been making oil since ancient times. The history of oil production in Upper Orawa probably dates back to the beginnings of settlement. The oil-extrusion equipment was relocated to the open-air museum from Lipnica Mała. Oil production usually started in winter before the Lent season, during which no animal fats were used for omelettes, just linseed oil. Oil mills could work round the clock during that time, repeating the steps in the process of obtaining this valuable vegetable fat many times. It was also an opportunity for meetings and people often sang during the monotonous work. The first part of the oil mill is equipped with long logs with carved openings – stamping mills with wooden whips set in motion with feet. This was where linseed was pre-processed to obtain a floury mash to be mixed with hot water in shallow troughs.
