The International Airport in Balice near Krakow is the second airport in terms of passenger service in Poland. In 1995, it was named after Pope John Paul II. It was the airport, where the ceremonies of greeting or farewell to the Holy Father were held very often on the occasion of his pilgrimages to his motherland. In the lobby, there is the bas-relief dedicated to the Pope. The object is located on the route “In the Footsteps of John Paul II in Krakow”.
