In the building of the restored 19th century Ratusz, you can immerse yourself in the history of the city. This branch of the Museum presents the history of one of the oldest cities in Poland.

Even though Oświęcim has eight centuries of history, it was possible to arrange the exhibit in Ratusz so as not to omit any important and significant events of its history. This travel through time starts in the Middle Ages and ends in modern times. The first princely couple from Oświęcim, Władysław and Eufrozyna, are our virtual guides to this oldest period of history. It is with them that you can look at old documents, seals, and thanks to the interactive solutions used here, go back to the first years of the castle's existence. On the ground floor, you will find three prison cells from different periods of the city's past. On the first floor, stories about epidemics, fires and floods as well as the Swedish Deluge await you. The first floor is devoted to history from the 17th century to the partitions. The second part of the exhibition is devoted to the First World War. The following edition of the history of Oświęcim, from the times of Young Poland, is a lot of fun. It is in this section that the car Praga – Oświęcim Baby model from 1936 (produced in Prague, assembled in Oświęcim) is presented. Who wouldn't want to get into such a car and take a ride through the virtual streets of the city? The history of KL Auschwitz and times of war await visitors after their drive. This contemporary part of the exhibit is a story about the peaceful, cultural and sports activities of Oświęcim. Anyone who wants to can play the role of a football champion and score a goal for Unia Oświęcim. The Ratusz Museum in Oświęcim is a branch of the Castle Museum in Oświęcim.
