Pilgrims come here to pray at the grotto, which is a copy of the grotto of Lourdes in France, where the famous revelations of Our Lady took place. The construction of the grotto in Porąbka was initiated by a local parish priest, Fr John Palka, who made a pilgrimage to Lourdes in 1900. The structure was ready four years later. In the grotto, at the altar of St. Bernadette, you can even draw water - mixed with water from a source in Lourdes. The Shrine celebrates the 11th of February – the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, when a procession of people carrying lanterns proceeds to the grotto. The day of indulgences falls on the first Sunday in October to celebrate the feast of the Rosary (7th of October) and the 30th of November (the feast of St. Andrew the Apostle).
