Szczyt Szczebel

Szczebel Peak

Obiekt przyrodniczy

34-730 Glisne Tourist region: Gorce i Beskid Wyspowy

Mt Szczebel (977 metres above sea level) towers over Mszana Dolna and Kasinka Mała. Due to its striking silhouette and classic soaring structure, it is considered one of the most beautiful peaks in the Beskid Wyspowy.

The mountain lies practically right next to the Zakopianka road. In fact, it is one of the most easily accessible peaks that can be conquered in a quick outing. Three roads lead to the Peak. The black trail leads from Kasinka Mała, the black trail from Lubień and the green trail from the Glisne Pass. Along the black trail, you can see a cave, which is quite a treat in the Beskid Mountains. The Ice Hole (Zimna Dziura) in Szczebel (also known as the Ice Cave or Cave in Lubień) is a landslide cave formed in the Magura sandstone and is easily accessible to tourists. It is located at 655 metres above sea level. Geologists described it in the first half of the 19th century. The ice stays there sometimes, even into the summer.

Moreover, the summit is also a place that paragliders have taken a liking to. Not far from the summit, by the black trail from Lubień, a place was created from which paragliders can take off in good weather.

The summit is located on the Pope's Trail. On the summit is a monument dedicated to Pope John Paul II, who was on the peak twice in the days before he became pope. In addition, there is a Polish flag, maps, tables, benches and a fire pit.
