Its goal is to build bridges between Poles and Jews, fight stereotypes and commemorate the victims of the Holocaust. The Galicia Jewish Museum, which was established in the heart of the Jewish quarter of Kazimierz, aims to help understand the history of both nations.

The Galicia Jewish Museum was established in an old, pre-war mill. The permanent exhibition, which welcomes both Cracovians and tourists, consists of two thematic blocks: Following the Footsteps of Memory, and Unfinished Memory. The first thematic block is the result of a twelve-year collaboration between Chris Schwarz and Jonathan Weber (former UNESCO President for Jewish Studies and Interreligious Dialogue) and provides a new perspective on issues of the Jewish past. The exhibition features photographs of places, people, symbols, its stories and tales. It is divided into five sections, which include: Witnessing the Ruins; Jewish Culture as It Once Was; Holocaust; The Sites of Extermination; How the Past is Remembered; People Creating Memory. Memory Unfinished is an exhibition that is part of the Galicia Jewish Museum's plan to take a bold look at Jewish heritage and the whole of historic Galicia, including its eastern part that today belongs to Ukraine.
