The surroundings of Ciężkowice are famous for the interesting rock formations created in hard sandstone known as Ciężkowice sandstone. Begin the trip by following the black trail from the Bogoniowice-Ciężkowice train station. It will take you to the centre of Ciężkowice and to the town’s market square featuring 18th and 19th century architecture. The trail then climbs Góra Skała (Rock Mountain), where it meets with the blue trail. this trail descends to the Stone City reserve (Skamieniałe Miasto) – the largest complex of rocks in the Carpathian Foothills. From the reserve, follow the signs that will take you to the other side of the Biała valley, to the village of Kąśna Dolna. Once there, why not visit the manor of Ignacy Paderewski. The blue trail then climbs up, where you can take a turn and get on the green trail, taking you to yet another rock called Diable Boisko (Devil’s Ground), and then down to the vicinity of the Pławna train station.
