Przyszedł na świat na wawelskim zamku 3 października 1458 roku. Był trzecim dzieckiem królewskim pary: Kazimierza Jagiellończyka i Elżbiety Rakuszanki, nazywanej matką królów. Królewicz Kazimierz Jagiellończyk to jedyny święty spośród wszystkich królewskich rodów dawnej Polski.
Casimir (1458–84), the son of King Casimir IV Jagiellonian, was prepared by his father for the throne and was raised in the spirit of piety and of humanist ideals. He was renowned for his righteousness and justice when he served as vice-regent of the Crown, and then in Lithuania where he died and was buried in the Vilnius Cathedral. He was canonized in 1604 and is remembered on March 4.
